Rail passengers were treated to a special treat this week with an on board book reading by First Great Western’s writer on the train.
Passengers on the 1030 Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads service were invited to listen to author James Attlee read extracts from his new, acclaimed book Station to Station, Searching for stories on the Great Western Line.
Watch a video trailer of the book:
James describes himself as a travelling writer rather than a travel writer, and has been supported by First Great Western with unfettered access to its services, stations and staff.
“This was a perfect opportunity to test the impact of hearing stories I have uncovered for the book while passing the actual locations that inspired them.
“Railways connect physical places: books link thoughts together. The spine of my book is the London to Bristol line. The passengers I met on the day were good fun and very willing to be taken on a different kind of journey”.
