GWR is to provide over 25 more services each day in support of Radio 1’s Big Weekend but is warning customers that services immediately before and after the event will be busy. Extra trains will run between Exeter and Starcross and between Paignton and Starcross.
Extra staff will also be on hand to help those travelling board trains in safely. Those travelling to the event are advised to travel early and take advantage of quieter trains, while extra trains are being provided during the busiest days to help take people home again. Those returning after the event are reminded that services are expected to be busy, and to check journey times to ensure onward connections are not missed.
GWR Station Manager for the area Nick Reid said:
“While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge customers to allow time for their journeys to get to Starcross and to check the time of journeys home. We are providing extra trains but the station is still expected to be a lot busier than normal.”
