Wales v England, Rugby World Cup Warm-up

Travelling to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium for Kick Off at 1415?

GWR will run 29 trains to help get fans home after the Wales v England Rugby World Cup Warm-up this coming Saturday, but is warning customers that they may have to queue for trains immediately after the game.

Those travelling to Wales v England at the Principality Stadium at 1415 are advised to allow time to enter the ground, and to be aware that services immediately before and after the game are expected to be busy.

At the end of the match GWR will provide nine Intercity Express Train services from Cardiff towards Swansea, providing almost 6,000 seats; and will also run 20 train services (a mixture of Intercity and suburban stopping services) towards Bristol, providing over 8,000 seats.

GWR Performance Director Barry Milsom said:

“With bigger, more spacious Intercity Express Trains in service we are able to provide many more seats for customers than before, and a new timetable in December will allow us the opportunity to offer even more.

“But Cardiff Station itself can only accommodate so many people at once, and a queueing system is needed to allow customers to board trains safely.”

Those coming from further afield are also reminded to check the time of their last train home.
