What to expect at the 175th anniversary celebrations

There will be events at or near all five stations along the line – Didcot, Appleford, Culham, Radley and Oxford – and, courtesy of GWR, you’ll be able to buy a special combined bus/train/Didcot Railway Centre ticket for use all day on the Saturday.

Vintage Trains will be bringing their flagship locomotive, GWR number 7029 'Clun Castle' to Oxford specially to join in with the anniversary celebrations.

How to get to the celebrations

Don't miss what is going to be a great day for all ages and all interests. Visit one, a couple, or even all the venues. Using the combined ticket why not take advantage of the special 175 bus service operated by Thames Travel which will run a circular route hourly from Didcot? Or travel by any normal scheduled GWR train. Whatever you choose to do you will not be disappointed, but please check the timetables before making any plans.

Things to see and do in Oxford

Besides the 175th anniversary of the Didcot to Oxford line, the city of Oxford has lots to offer. Why not make a weekend of it? Don’t miss some of the finest collections of archaeology and anthropology at Pitt Rivers Museum or the University Museum of Natural History. View the Oxford Botanic Garden or take the Oxford Castle Unlocked guided tour.
