What's happening?

The railway in and around Bristol is being transformed over the next few years to pave the way for more rail services so we can move more people, more reliably.

Improvements to the tracks and signalling in the area will ease congestion and enable us to run more trains in the future.

More rail improvement work will be taking place this summer affecting trains via Bristol Parkway as well as train services between Bristol and South Wales.

  • Bristol Temple Meads to Taunton – Sunday 18 to Friday 23 September
  • Bristol Temple Meads to Severn Beach – weekend of 15/16 October, plus Sunday 23 and 30 October

Looking ahead

Planned engineering work will also affect trains in the autumn between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton from Saturday 17 to Friday 23 September.

Track upgrades are also planned that will affect all train services via Bristol Parkway from Christmas Day to New Year’s Eve.

Useful information

Bristol Temple Meads will be the focus of a great deal of activity in the next few years as the station is transformed to meet growing demand.

As part of the Bristol Rail Regeneration Programme, the station will undergo a major transformation that will enhance the customers’ experience.

Ticket office

From Monday 18 April, the ticket office at Bristol Temple Meads will move to an alternative location to enable Network Rail to undertake refurbishment works.

Ticket office facilities will be available in the building adjacent to the station’s northern entrance in what was formerly Bonaparte’s café bar.
