What’s happening

Over the Easter weekend, Network Rail will be renewing the track in the Pershore area to maintain infrastructure and improve reliability for train services.

To allow this work to take place, trains between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester Foregate Street will be amended throughout this period with replacement buses running between the two stations.

Completion of this work will help protect the line and its use for the years ahead.

What you need to know

From Friday 15 to Monday 18 April:
  • buses will replace trains between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester Foregate Street
  • trains will continue to run between London Paddington and Moreton-in-Marsh
  • a limited direct service will continue to run between London Paddington and Worcester, using an alternative route

Our travel advice

  • allow plenty of time – Journeys involving replacement buses will take longer than usual. Check carefully before travelling
  • know where to catch the bus – at some locations our replacement buses will stop away from the stations
  • check your journey online – journey planners will be updated before March to show the revised service

How trains will be affected

  • trains between London Paddington and Worcester/Great Malvern/Hereford will only run between London Paddington and Moreton-in-Marsh
  • trains between Great Malvern and Bristol Temple Meads will run as normal
  • no GWR trains will run between Great Malvern and Hereford. Please use West Midlands Railway services instead

Replacement buses

  • Replacement buses will run hourly between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester Shrub Hill
  • Departure times of buses will be different to normal train times.
  • Replacement buses at the start and end of the day will extend to/from Oxford

  • Buses replace trains between Worcester Shrub Hill and Hereford
  • Trains from London Paddington will terminate at Worcester Shrub Hill or Worcester Foregate Street

Sunday 24 April

  • Buses replace trains between Worcestershire Parkway/Cheltenham Spa and Worcester Foregate Street
  • No GWR trains will run between Worcester Foregate Street and Hereford
  • Trains from London Paddington will terminate at Worcestershire Parkway

If your journey involves a replacement bus, please be aware that there usually aren’t any toilet facilities available on these services. Any buses that are equipped with toilet facilities can only be used at the driver’s discretion.
