What’s happening

Network Rail will be carrying out a programme of separate rail upgrades in Cornwall this November and December.

Rail closures will take place across Cornwall on various days throughout the November to December period. Most will take place at weekends with one weekday closure at the end of the programme.

This work is essential to protect the ongoing safety of the route and involves relaying life-expired track, replacing lineside equipment and renewing structures.

This page will guide you through each closure, highlighting the services affected and providing clear advice to help you travel as smoothly as possible during this time.

Summary of closures

Date Line closed between
Sunday 4 December
  • Liskeard and Par
Monday 5 to Thursday 8 December
  • Truro and Penzance
  • St Erth and St Ives

Our advice

  • Check carefully before travelling, especially at weekends in November
  • Where the line is closed, replacement buses are planned to run instead, but these may be limited due to a shortage of available drivers
  • Travel on unaffected days if you can for a smoother journey
