Our pick of the best slopes around the FGW network. Prepare to test your skills!

1. Plymouth Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre

With three slopes to choose from, including the longest artificial slope in the South West, Plymouth Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre is the perfect place to practice and learn new skills. There’s an exhilarating 650-metre toboggan run and Sno-tube rides, plus a fully licensed bar and restaurant on site.

2. Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre

Take an FGW train to Cardiff Central and then change for services to Fairwater to reach Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre. Located in Fairwater Park, only 10 minutes from Cardiff City Centre, the Centre boasts a 100-metre slope and there are also inflatable rings that offer tubing, the no-skill alternative to skiing.

3. Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre

Boasting a 230-metre main slope, a Snowflex Fun Park, a newly extended 250 metre recreational racing slope and a 40-metre nursery slope, Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre is home to the longest slopes in England and Wales. It also has the UK’s only permanent Big AirBag, which provides skiers with a soft landing when trying out new moves.

4. Exeter Ski Club St James Park

Make the most of FGW’s cheap rail fares and catch a train to St James Park to enjoy this state of the art ski centre. The Exeter and District Ski Slope provides a realistic simulation of snow on both the main slope and separate nursery slope for beginners. Both slopes are floodlit and ski sessions, available in all weather conditions, are led by nationally qualified instructors.

5. Skiplex Indoor Ski Slopes, Basingstoke

Providing the latest developments in ski technology, Skiplex Indoor Ski Slopes give you the perfect opportunity to learn or improve skiing and boarding technique. The slopes are made of a carpet-like material so that the gradient can be changed to suit your needs and ability.
