Do Cardiff in a day

10AM Fairytale Palace

Smack in the middle of Cardiff, on the edges of Bute Park, is the substantial Cardiff Castle. Within its walls is an early motte and bailey that was once an important Norman garrison. Later additions by the wealthy Bute family saw the castle transformed into a gothic fairy-tale palace.

12PM City rafting

Have you ever been rafting in the city? Well here’s your chance. At Cardiff International White Water you and your friends can tackle the rapids headfirst without venturing too far from the city centre.

2PM Everything under one roof

Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay is the city’s foremost venue, showing theatre, live music, opera, ballet and contemporary dance. It’s also a good spot to get a coffee and a bite to eat, and marvel at the impressive architecture, in the heart of the redeveloped Cardiff Bay.

4PM Wales through the ages

National Museum Cardiff has an impressive collection of art, archaeology, natural history and geology. Highlights include an exhibit that takes a look at early Wales, exploring how people once lived through the artefacts they left behind.

6PM Make a pig of yourself

Housed in a former bank vault underneath the city, the Potted Pig has a constantly changing menu of British food with a French and New York twist – with plenty of steaks on offer in addition to the roast belly pork.
