August
Track maintenance work will affect train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Avonmouth or Severn Beach.
Replacement buses are planned to/from stations affected after around 20:00 on Saturday until around 17:00 on Sunday.

Track renewal work will affect train services between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester.
Trains will still run between London Paddington and Moreton-in-Marsh via Oxford.
Replacement buses are planned between:
- Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester Shrub Hill or Worcester Foregate Street.
Trains will still be running between Worcester Shrub Hill and Great Malvern or Hereford.
A few direct trains will run between London Paddington and Hereford via Cheltenham Spa.
Customers can also travel on train services between Newport and Hereford instead.
Only CrossCountry trains will be able to stop at Worcestershire Parkway.
Track renewal work will affect train services between Swindon and Gloucester.
Trains will still run between London Paddington and Bristol/South Wales via Swindon.
Trains will also be running between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester/Cheltenham Spa.
Some direct trains will run between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa via Bristol Parkway.
During this time, no trains will be able to stop at the following stations:
- Kemble
- Stroud
- Stonehouse
Replacement buses are planned for those stations affected.
Important to note
Rail replacement services stop by the Town Hall in Stonehouse High Street not the station.
Track renewal work will affect some train services between London Paddington and Reading.
The number of trains running will be reduced and run to an amended timetable because only two out of four tracks will be available between Slough and Hayes & Harlington.
September
Track maintenance work will affect all train services between Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour.
Replacement buses are planned between stations affected.
Track renewal work will affect some train services between London Paddington and Reading.
The number of services will be reduced and run to an amended timetable because only two out of four tracks will be available via Slough.
Track renewal work will affect all train services via Worcester Shrub Hill until around 1700.
Trains will still run between London Paddington and Worcestershire Parkway, plus between Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester.
Replacement buses are planned between:
- Worcestershire Parkway and Great Malvern
- Gloucester and Worcester Foregate Street
West Midlands Trains will still run between Birmingham New Street and Great Malvern or Hereford via Worcester Foregate Street.
Track and signalling upgrades linked to train service improvements will affect trains between Guildford and Redhill or Gatwick Airport.
On Sunday 14 September, additional track maintenance work will also affect all train services via Guildford.
Sunday 7 September, plus Monday 15 to Saturday 27 September
Trains will run between Reading and Guildford with replacement buses planned between:
- Guildford and Gatwick Airport – non-stop
- Guildford and Redhill – stopping at all stations
Southern train services will still run between Redhill and Reigate or Gatwick Airport.
Thameslink and Gatwick Express services will also operate to/from Gatwick Airport.
Sunday 14 September
Trains will run between Reading and Ash with replacement buses planned between:
- North Camp and Gatwick Airport – stopping at Guildford only
- North Camp and Redhill – stopping at all stations except Shalford and Chilworth
- Guildford and Gomshall – stopping at Shalford and Chilworth
South Western Railway will provide alternative transport between Guildford and Aldershot – stopping at Ash and Wanborough stations.
Important to note
Rail replacement services will pick-up or drop-off at the front of Dorking (Main) railway station instead of Dorking (Deepdene).
Track and signaling upgrades linked to train service improvements will affect trains for Newquay.
Replacement buses are planned between St Austell and Newquay – stopping at all stations, plus some buses will run non-stop at peak periods.
Important to note
Most replacement transport will not stop at Par, for connections change at St Austell instead.
Trains services will still be operating at Par and St Austell towards Plymouth or Penzance.
Track renewal work will affect all train services between Westbury and Castle Cary.
Trains between London Paddington and the south west will use an alternative route via Swindon between Reading and Taunton – extending journey times by around 30 minutes.
Train services will still run between Reading and Bedwyn, Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury, plus Castle Cary and Weymouth.
Replacement buses are planned between:
- Westbury and Frome/Castle Cary
- Taunton and Castle Cary
- Swindon and Pewsey
Track renewal and structural works will affect all train services via Southampton Central.
Trains will use an alternative route between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour – stopping at Eastleigh instead of Southampton Central.
Replacement buses are planned between Eastleigh and Southampton Central on Sunday 14 September.
South Western Railway trains will run between Eastleigh and Southampton Central on the weekend of 27/28 September.
Track renewal work will affect trains between Basingstoke and Reading West.
Replacement buses are planned between Basingstoke and Reading Green Park or Reading.
CrossCountry will also operate replacement transport between Winchester and Reading.
South Western Railway trains will still run between Basingstoke and London Waterloo.
Signaling rewire work will affect all train services to/from Gloucester, extending to include the wider region at weekends.
Buses replace trains at Gloucester throughout this nine-day period.
Trains between London Paddington/Swindon and Cheltenham Spa or between Bristol Temple Meads and Worcester still run Monday to Friday but won’t stop at Gloucester.
Replacement buses are planned by Great Western Railway between:
- Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester – all dates
- Worcester Foregate Street and Gloucester – weekends
- Bristol Parkway and Gloucester – weekends
- Kemble and Gloucester – Saturdays
- Swindon and Gloucester – Sundays
- Cam & Dursley and Gloucester – Monday to Friday
CrossCountry train services between Nottingham and Cardiff Central will only run to/from Cheltenham Spa on weekends, or Birmingham New Street on weekdays.
Other CrossCountry trains will still be running Monday to Friday between Birmingham New Street and the South West via Worcestershire Parkway and Cheltenham Spa.
However, at weekends, these train services can only operate in the region between Bristol Parkway and Paignton, Plymouth or Penzance.
Replacement buses are planned by CrossCountry between:
- Cheltenham Spa and Bristol Parkway (non-stop) – weekends
- Worcestershire Parkway and Ashchurch for Tewkesbury – Monday to Friday
Transport for Wales train services will only run between Cardiff Central and Lydney instead of Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa on all dates.
Replacement buses are planned by Transport for Wales between:
- Lydney and Gloucester – some extending to Cheltenham Spa
As an alternative to replacement transport, Stagecoach will also accept valid rail tickets for travel on the following routes:

Track renewal and structures work will affect train services via Wokingham.
Weekend of 4/5 October
Replacement buses are planned between Reading and North Camp on Saturday or Reading and Guildford on Sunday. Trains will run between Blackwater and Redhill/Gatwick Airport on Saturday, or between Guildford and Redhill/Gatwick Airport on Sunday.
Saturday 25 to Monday 27 October
Replacement buses are planned between Reading and Wokingham. Trains will still run between Wokingham and Redhill/Gatwick Airport.
Signalling upgrade work will affect train services between Llanelli and Carmarthen.
Trains will still run between London Paddington and Swansea.
Replacement buses are planned between Swansea and Carmarthen.
New station construction work and track maintenance will affect some train services to/from London Paddington.
Trains will run to an amended timetable because only two out of four tracks will be available.
Maintenance of the electrical power supply will affect all trains using the Severn Tunnel until 1540.
During this time, trains between London and South Wales will use an alternative route between Swindon and Newport not stopping at Bristol Parkway.
A very limited train service will run between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will start/terminate at Bristol Parkway instead until around 1600.
Replacement buses are planned between Bristol Parkway and Newport until around 1500.
Bristol Temple Meads to Weston-super-Mare – weekend of 18/19 October
Track renewal work will affect all train services via Bedminster.
Replacement buses are planned between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare.
GWR trains will still run between London Paddington and the south west via Taunton, plus between Weston-super-Mare and Exeter St Davids.
CrossCountry trains will use an alternative route between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton – extending journey times by up to an hour.
Valid rail tickets will also be accepted for travel on the following First West of England buses:

GWR trains will still run between London Paddington and Worcestershire Parkway, plus between Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester.
Replacement buses are planned between:
- Worcestershire Parkway and Great Malvern
- Gloucester and Worcester Foregate Street

Track maintenance work will affect train services via Chippenham until 1100.
Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will use an alternative route – not stopping at Chippenham or Bath Spa.
Replacement buses are planned between Chippenham and Swindon, Bath Spa or Westbury.
Track renewal work will affect all train services between Bristol and Bath.
Hourly trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will use an alternative route via Bristol Parkway – not stopping at Chippenham or Bath Spa.
Trains will also run every hour between London Paddington and Bath Spa via Chippenham.
Trains will still run between:
- Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central or Gloucester
- Bath Spa and Westbury, Portsmouth Harbour, Frome or Weymouth
Replacement buses are planned between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa.
Valid rail tickets will also be accepted for travel on the following First West of England buses:

Oldfield Park
- Towards Bath Spa – bus stop (Bellots Road) on A36 Lower Bristol Road
- Towards Bristol Temple Meads – bus stop on A3604 Windsor Bridge Road
Yellow signage will be in place to direct customers between the station and the bus stops.
