On the south-east side of the picturesque North Wessex Downs, Basingstoke railway station serves the local area with trains to destinations including Birmingham and Manchester.

A great destination for those looking to capture the British countryside at its best, the station sits halfway between the capital and the coast and is the terminus for Great Western Rail’s Reading to Basingstoke Line.

For those looking to explore somewhere closer to home than Birmingham and Manchester, there are plenty of options for things to do in Basingstoke itself. As the largest town in Hampshire sitting at the north end of the county, it has four different areas where you might want to walk, cycle or even spend a long weekend camping nearby.

In addition to the North Wessex Downs, Basingstoke is close to the Surrey Hills – another area of outstanding natural beauty – as well as the South Downs National Park and The New Forest National Park
