Situated about halfway along the West Wales Lines and offering trains to locations including Swansea and Fishguard, Kidwelly railway station is situated about seven miles north-west of Llalli in the county of Carmarthenshire.
The station itself is an unmanned request stop, which means passengers looking to either board or alight there need to let the train manager know in advance or signal to the driver as the train approaches.
Once you’re there, you may well find there is a lot to like about this peaceful and tranquil South Wales town. The large and well looked after Kidwelly Castle, which straddles the estuary of the Gwendraeth Fach with great confidence, is open to visitors all year round and is well worth the small admission fee. In addition, The Kidwelly Industrial Museum is also a great find for those with an interest in local engineering history.
