With trains to Cardiff Central, London Waterloo and Gatwick Airport available across its four platforms, Portsmouth Harbour railway station is a valuable part of the GWR network. Serving over 2.2 million passengers every year, it’s also one that’s essential to commuters and travelers across the UK.

Portsmouth Harbour railway station dates back to 1876, when it opened to act as the terminus of Portsmouth Waterside Extension to Portsmouth Direct Line. During World War II, it was seriously damaged by bombing and had to undergo significant repairs, but today it offers everything you’d expect from a modern station of its size, including a café and accessible toilets.

If you do decide to venture out into the nearby area though, you’ll find plenty to see and do. The National Museum of the Royal Navy is just a short walk from the station – and you can even visit the magnificent HMS Warrior on the way.
