This south Devon seaside town boasts miles of golden sands, a picturesque estuary and historic walks – and it’s the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast.

What to see

The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site is one of the most picturesque stretches of the British seaside. Made up of layers of sedimentary rock, the coastline is of particular interest to geologists, as it reveals the history of the Earth over some 185 million years, full of fossils, swamps and the remains of ancient forests. It’s also a damn nice place for a walk!
