Journey planner information

Online journey planners will be updated on a weekly basis, which may mean cancelled services continue to show as running. Please check before you travel closer to the time of departure.

We apologise for this temporary reduction in the timetable. We have made this decision because some of our Class 175 trains are not providing the reliability we need to operate the full timetable.

By reducing the timetable we are able to provide a greater certainty for customers and help protect the reliability of the wider timetable.

This temporary reduction will allow us to improve the reliability of this train fleet and, working with our industry partners, have put in place a dedicated team to ensure this can be done as quickly as possible.

Since their introduction in our May timetable, issues with Class 175 trains have accounted for nearly 15% of delay minutes and nearly 14% of cancellations across the GWR network.

In total, 26 Class 175 trains, which were previously in service with Transport for Wales, are being introduced and will lead to increases in capacity and improve resilience across our regional train fleets when fully operational.

Unfortunately, the 15 trains transferred to GWR so far have required more recommissioning work than expected after a prolonged period out of service. Since entering passenger service, they have also experienced technical issues associated with long-term storage which require further targeted attention.
