Travelling to the Royal Wedding?

Saturday 19 May 2018

One of the biggest weddings of the decade is taking place in Windsor when HRH Prince Harry marries Ms Meghan Markle.

We are expecting train services to be extremely busy with large numbers of people travelling to Windsor for the Wedding and Royal Procession. If you are intending to go please allow plenty of time for your journey.

Taking the train to Windsor

There are two train services to Windsor:

  • Slough to Windsor & Eton Central - services provided by GWR
  • London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside - services provided by South Western Railway (SWR)

If you are travelling from the direction of Reading we recommend you change at Slough for the shuttle service to Windsor & Eton Central. The service will be running every 20 minutes and will have extra carriages.

If you are travelling from the London area you should use SWR services from London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside. There will be four services per hour departing at XX:20, XX:28, XX:50 and XX:58.

A queuing system will be in operation at Slough. Queuing systems may also be put in place at Paddington, Waterloo, Reading and Staines.

Windsor Castle

Thames Valley and British Transport Police will be carrying out checks around Windsor. To help get through these as quickly as possible we recommend you bring a minimal number of bags.

Travelling home

The Royal Procession is expected to finish around 13:30 and we recommend you stagger your journey home. A queuing system will be in place at both Windsor stations. Please keep checking our Twitter and Facebook for the latest queuing times and service updates.

Travelling with a bicycle on Saturday 19 May

Due to the large number of people who will be travelling between Slough and Windsor & Eton Central we will not be able to accommodate passengers with non-folding bicycles. There will also be reduced cycle rack space at Slough during this period.
