Advance Single fares
The Great GWR Getaway Sale is available on Advance Single fares only, so you can mix and match fares for your outward and return journeys. These must be bought at least 7 days before you travel and are non-refundable. These fares are valid for your booked journey only.
Promotional fares
1. These terms and conditions apply to Promotional fares. Promotional fares are tickets available for purchase as GWR Advance Single (one-way) tickets only during the Term. Promotional fares are available in Standard Class and First Class for selected journeys.
2. Unless detailed in these terms and conditions, normal GWR Advance Single fare conditions apply.
3. Promotional fares are available via GWR.com/sale. Promotional fares are also available through GWR.com, the GWR App and certain third party retailers.
Booking Deadline
4. Promotional fares must be bought a minimum of 7 days in advance of travel. Promotional fares are available to buy from Friday 2 January 2026 until 23:59 on Monday 5 January 2026, for travel from Friday 9 January 2026 until 23:59 on Friday 10 April 2026 (the “Term”).
Selected Routes and Limited Availability
5. The following travel exclusion dates will apply:
- Sunday 15 February 2026, Saturday 21 February 2026 and Saturday 14 March 2026 – Promotional fares for journeys to/from London Paddington to Cardiff, Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock are unavailable.
- Tuesday 10 March 2026 until Friday 13 March 2026 – Promotional fares for journeys to/from Cheltenham Spa, Worcester via Swindon are unavailable.
- Thursday 2 April 2026 until Monday 6 April 2026 – Promotional fares for all journeys are unavailable.
- Sunday services throughout the travel period – Promotional fares for all journeys are unavailable.
6. 225,000 seats available as of Friday 2 January 2026 until 23:59 on Monday 5 January 2026 (150,000 Standard Class and 75,000 First Class).
7. Promotional fares are subject to quota-controlled availability and will be valid for the booked GWR service(s) only.
8. Promotional fares are available for selected journeys only, and are not available between every pair of GWR-served stations.
9. Maximum of 9 persons per booking.
10. Promotional fares are subject to availability and may not be available at some peak times (Monday to Friday before 09:30 and between 16:00 and 19:00 on all routes from and to London; some local variations apply) and are not valid with any other offer, promotion or discount.
General
11. The "Up to 50% off" claim is based on the average discount available across all routes included in the GWR January Sale. Some routes may have a lower discount and some routes may have a higher discount. Discount per route is calculated based on the most popular Advance Single fare typically sold for that particular route.
12. GWR Advance Single (one-way) fares are non-refundable, except where permitted under the terms of the National Rail Conditions of Travel.
13. A child concession of 50% applies for customers aged 5 to 15 inclusive. No Railcards or any other concessionary scheme applies. Up to two children aged under 5 can travel free with each fare-paying passenger (seat reservations for children aged under 5 are not available).
14. Customers may not start, break and resume, or end their journey at any intermediate station except to change to/from connecting trains as shown on the ticket(s).
15. These tickets are not valid for travel on other train operators’ services, or on dates or times other than those shown on the ticket.
16. Bookings open approximately 10 weeks before the date of travel for mid-week services and 11 weeks before the date of travel for weekend services on most high-speed service routes.
17. GWR’s decisions relating to this promotion are final. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law.
18. GWR reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without notice and to take appropriate action or withdraw this offer at any time.
